# [Usage](../../../usage.md) > [Components and standard attributes](../basics.md) > closeable

---

`closeable` | `->setCloseable()`

Controls whether a `Modal` can be dismissed by the user. Used for `Modals` requiring mandatory completion.

| Types     | Default |
|-----------|---------|
| `boolean` | `true`  |

When set to `false`, the modal cannot be closed with Escape, backdrop click, the cancel button or the header close button. The header close button and the cancel button are hidden. A modal with a form still closes on successful submission. A modal without a form remains visible until closed programmatically.

### Example
Blade:
```php
{!! \KFramework\Components\Visual\Modal::make('locked')->setCloseable(false) !!}
```
Controller:
```php
Modal::make('locked')->setCloseable(false);
```

### Interaction / tips
- Combine with `url` (../shared_attributes/url.md) and `action` (../shared_attributes/action.md) for mandatory form workflows.
- Trio with `disableSubmit` (../shared_attributes/disable_submit.md) and `disableCancel` (../shared_attributes/disable_cancel.md) to fully control the action row.
- Restore dismissal with `->setCloseable(true)`.
