# [Usage](../../../usage.md) > [Components and standard attributes](../basics.md) > small

`small` | `->setSmall()`

Useful for `Buttons` or other `Visual` components, add a class to get a slim version of the component.

| Types     | Default |
|-----------|---------|
| `boolean` | `false` |

Renders a slim / compact variant, mainly `Button` and other Visual components (badges, alerts). Does not change Form field logic. When omitted (`false`) the normal size renders.
Use in dense toolbars, table row actions, or repeated groups.

For `gauge` charts (`Chart` with `->setType('gauge')`), `small` renders a compact gauge without chrome. When enabled, the chart hides the chart title, the chart area border, the gauge ticks, the gauge legend and the pie slice labels. The chart container and wrapper use `0` padding and `0` margin, the wrapper height is automatic instead of the full `dimension`, and the SVG keeps a `2 / 1` aspect ratio with automatic height.

### Example
Blade:
```php
{!! \KFramework\Components\Visual\Button::make('Edit')->setSmall(true) !!}
```
Controller:
```php
Button::make('Edit')->setSmall(true)->setAction(fn() => edit());
```

Compact gauge:
```php
{!!
  \KFramework\Components\Visual\Chart::make('Load')
    ->setType('gauge')
    ->setSmall(true)
    ->setSchema([
        ['name' => 'used', 'value' => 70, 'color' => 'blue'],
        'max' => 100,
    ])
!!}
```

### Interaction / tips
- For pixel sizing use `dimension` (../shared_attributes/dimension.md); `small` is a preset variant.
- Combine with `transparent` (../shared_attributes/transparent.md) for minimal row actions.
- Keep `label` (../shared_attributes/label.md) / `name` short when small.
- For `gauge` charts, `small` also implies no legend even when `displayLegend` is enabled on the `Chart` component.
