# [Usage](../../usage.md) > [UI](basics.md) > Light/dark mode

---

Once implemented the basic K-Framework UI and its navbar, is possible for the user to switch to the dark-mode using a button on the lateral navbar.

The setting will be remembered in the cookies, and if there is no initial selection, it will selected the theme of the device if available. The toggle shows the moon (`weather-night`) while the light theme is active and the sun (`weather-sunny`) while the dark theme is active.

Also, is possible to force a specific mode by setting in the `config/k-framework/ui.php` this key:

```php
'light_mode' => 'light'
```

or if you prefer dark:

```php
'light_mode' => 'dark'
```

this will hide the button for theme selection.

Config key / file: `light_mode` in `config/k-framework/ui.php` (`'light'` forces light, `'dark'` forces dark, missing value leaves the navbar toggle visible). No Blade change is needed — the toggle ships with the base UI:

```html
<x-kfw::ui>
   <!-- content automatically follows the active light/dark theme -->
</x-kfw::ui>
```
