# [Usage](../../../usage.md) > Simple popup
Use the simple popup when you need a lightweight cursor-following hint on any element — e.g. a table cell, chart legend or `->setHint()` on a component — without wiring a full tooltip library. The global `popup.js` listener is already loaded on every page; you only add the `popup-message` attribute (see also [Hint overlay](../../components/shared_attributes/hintOverlay.md) and [Universal observer](universal_observer.md) for dynamic content).

A Javascript code will handle this simple utility.

## Usage
The code is already integrated with every page/view following the installation. Is sufficient to add to the page element the code:
```html
popup-message=""
```
Example:
```html
<div class="row" popup-message="some text here">
    <!-- Your div content -->
</div>
```

At the mouse passage on the div, it will automatically show the message at the mouse position. If more elements are nested, it will show only the mssage of the div were the cursor is pointed:

```html
<div popup-message="message 1">
    <div popup-message="message 2">
    </div>
</div>
```

## Example

Blade trigger plus optional JS-set message:

```html
<!-- Blade -->
<button class="btn btn-primary" popup-message="Saves the current form">
    Save
</button>
<div id="status-dot" popup-message="Idle">●</div>
```

```javascript
// JS: update the hint dynamically (e.g. after an action)
document.getElementById('status-dot')
    .setAttribute('popup-message', 'Saved at ' + new Date().toLocaleTimeString());
```

Works on content injected later too, because the document-level `mousemove` handler resolves the nearest `[popup-message]` ancestor.
